Synthesising my research

In many of the documentaries there is a similarity of experiencing mental health issues when famous, for some this was because of being overwhelmed where as some it was because of bullying. Some celebrities that had similar experiences include Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato as both of them were young stars who turned to drugs and alcohol to try and cope but have both come out of it. Some differences include how some come out on the other side of the downs of fame where as some have suffered the consequences and died.Examples include Amy Winehouse and Whitney Houston .To me the documentaries have shown what its like to live their lives but this hasnt exactly changed my view of them as most of them were expected due to previous publicity. What did shock me was times where everything seemed fine for them yet they were actually going through things behind closed doors.I have understood that usually as the celebrities get further through their career they become more used to fame but sometimes they also start to dislike it more or even regret it after realising they cant live normal lives anymore.Ive noticed that at the very beginning of fame everything feels great but soon its not.I have also noticed that in this generation its even more of a struggle due to having no escape because of media and a larger extent of knowing everything about their lives. The time in their career, time period and age helps us understand fame as it shows how these things can be what effects our view of fame versus the reality of their lives.I have noticed most of the documentaries are just a 2 hour film about their experiences where as some approached it differently .Demi Lovato,Justin Bieber and Robbie Williams all had different episodes for their documentaries. They may have done this to symbolise each chapter or aspect of their life,it also shows them more realistically rather than just a documentary including films of them performing for their fans to sit and enjoy.A documentary that I thought was different to the others was Beyonce as she wasn't speaking about her personal career in fame but more as the life of a black woman in the music industry, this may be to show she cares about her culture because as a black woman she may have felt obliged to represent herself.Another difference I found between documentaries is how it is different to be a celebrity depending on which time period you are famous in.An example of this would be the wham documentary as during the 1980s George Michael managed to keep his sexuality hidden where as in the current time period there is a lot more media involvement
