Billie Eilish -the worlds a little blurry

2021

Notes from watching-Shes young and therefore at the beginning of her careerThe documentary shows her performing on tour and at festivals like coachella-it also included old videos from the beginning of her career-there were raw reactions of when ocean eyes went viral. It also shows how her and her brother Phineas work together at home to produce her songs

She told her fans that they are the reason shes okay -she says she doesnt even see them as fans she sees them as a part of her.She says that her family is the reason she is the way she is and her mum and dad were the ones who taught music to her .In a clip she gives up when singing as she thinks its terrible but her brother Phineas reassures her.She was afraid of becoming popular because she thought the more fame, the more hate. She hates song writing and she wouldnt have her career without Phineas. She says shes a nobody and doesnt understand why so many people like her.Speaks about tourettes. She feels dark feelings so she wants to talk about them and dopesnt feel like theres point in writing happy songs because she doesnt feel it.She says that having a song that describes your exact thoughts is perfect. She says she hates the pressure and she was very unhappy with her coachella performance even though everyone around her thought it was amazing. She says the hardest part about touring is leaving people and not being able to spend time with friends.Sometimes she feels like she cant have one moment-in the docuemenrtary it showed her being forced to meet fans after her show and she felt like she just needed time to calm down and after that the public were saying shed been rude. She says she hasnt been trying to sing about her mental healthon purpose to make a statement-it was just her singing what she felt. She never thought she would make it to this age.She met with Justin Bieber after being a fan of his for years and they both copnnect over their experience of fame as a teenager.

Who made it-R J Cutler-American filmmaker

How involved was she in the making-15 percent of footage was being filmed at home and the rest by him and his crew He says "Maggie(mum)had the wisdom to hang a gopro in the bedroom and encourage them to turn it on when they felt like their would be something worth filming-Her mother was worried how it would turn out and the perception of revealing her family to the world-he says "its a movie about transformation"

Critical reviews-rotten tomatoes-

R.J. Cutler's documentary is an honest and frank documentation of a sensational young woman and her ability to withstand all the clutter to produce and connect to a generation of people through her voice

Of course, when you have your main subject unafraid to expose her emotional scars on-screen, then you can really just let your camera roll. Eilish is that mesmerizing.

Link to my EPQ and conclusions-In conclusion I believe that Billie Eilish made this documentary to honestly portray her feels and show her career .This is because she isnt trying to impress everyone in the documentary,it shows an equal amount of her performances and behind the scenes which shows it isnt all about showing her talent, its about the prepartion, she is also very honest and even includes a time where she was seen as rude towards fans which shows shes not afraid to show how she really acts.It links to my title of how eefcetively do music documentaries show the effects of fame because it shows how her life has changed and her ups and downs of fame.
