Methods and approach to my research

 Methods

For the purpose of my research into music documentaries I will be focusing mainly on the impact of fame on the artists and how it has changed them to look for common themes, experiences and differences. 
I will not be focusing on the cinematography although it is important in constructing narrative and representing the artist. However, I will focus on typical conventions such as the use of flashbacks, archive footage and who is telling the story.
i will be doing primary research whilst using secondary case studies.I will use the documentaries of celebrities and use articles and critics to research what other people thought about them compared to my opinions and interpretations.
Some limitations of this may be that decreased engagement in the documentaries may impact my viewpoint about one or I may have a personal bias to an artist.

Notes from watching- 2022-shes had a long career and lots of experience directed by Amanda micheli the documentary has a mix of her performing and talking rather than just her shows it shows rehersals does show her acheivements but also shows times where she hasnt won awards -wants to show the world who she is -wants to represent all of the things that mtter to her -loves to escape to the musical world -wanted to use the superbowl to share with her community -she says that no matter what she acheives her personal life aways overshadows them in the media -she felt like she wasnt good enough when she was younger -wanted to quit the industry many times -feels depressed sometimes when she has to spend time away from the kids -likes to give subtle messages to her audience -has always been compared to ideal bodies -'its hard to continue when people think youre a joke' -she felt like shed let everyone down when she didnt win the golden globe -proud that she can hold things together wi

Synthesising my research

 In many of the documentaries there is a similarity of experiencing mental health issues when famous,for some this was because of being overwhelmed where as some it was because of bullying.Some celebrities that had similar experiences include Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato as both of them were young stars who turned to drugs and alcohol to try and cope but have both come out of it. Some differences include how some come out on the other side of the downs of fame where as some have suffered the consequences and died.Examples include Amy Winehouse and Whitney Houston .To me the documentaries have shown what its like to live their lives but this hasnt exactly changed my view of them as most of them were expected due to previous publicity.What did shock me was times where everything seemed fine for them yet they were actually going through things behind closed doors.I have understood that usually as the celebrities get further through their career they become more used to fame but sometimes
