My research

For each documentary that I watched,I made notes whilst waching to see what I learnt about each artist.I then thought it was important to write down immediate thoughts as well as finding other opinions and then I evaluated and decided how useful they were in answering my question.

Reason for a break

Due to mocks and the summer holidays I have decided now is the perfect time to take a break from my project. So far I have just introduced my project by using 500 words to explain my research.I will continue my project in september and begin to talk about what i have found out about how useful documentaries are into exploring the impacts of fame.

5000 word dissertation

How useful are music documentaries in exploring the impacts of fame? I began my project with the title of 'what are the negative impacts of fame? 'and my intention was to do secondary research around the lives of celebrities and how fame changed them but as i was researching I realized it would be more useful to talk about both sides of fame, the negatives and the positives. Then I found a useful way to research the lives of celebrities was through watching documentaries about them. I then realized the best way for me to record my research was by using primary research and making my own notes about each documentary that I watched as well as including critical reviews about each one from viewers. perspectives. I then realized that most of the documentaries that i was watching revolved around the music industry so it would be better to focus on the music industry. I then began to notice the different ways that each documentary presented the celebrities and adapted my project to

notes from watching- it  includes clips from old concerts, old interviews and interviews with the purpose of being in this documentary Roger had medical issues when on an american tour so they had to cut it short which upset them even though they were famous they werent seeing much money because the amount of tax the documentary includes a lot about freddies life they talk about how songs were special to them they said that talking to the press never got them anywhere there was a point where they felt like the biggest in the world-we are the champions was inspired by this there were many times where the band couldve fallen apart as they had many tests freddie still performed when he was ill-press showed pictures of him in a bad state  there was a show including other artists like david bowie in tribute to freddie who made it- Matt Ocasey Purpose and involvement- All member except for Freddie were involved in the making of it and they showed their time as a bad critical reviews- 'daz

Synthesising my research

In many of the documentaries there is a similarity of experiencing mental health issues when famous, for some this was because of being overwhelmed where as some it was because of bullying. Some celebrities that had similar experiences include Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato as both of them were young stars who turned to drugs and alcohol to try and cope but have both come out of it. Some differences include how some come out on the other side of the downs of fame where as some have suffered the consequences and died.Examples include Amy Winehouse and Whitney Houston .To me the documentaries have shown what its like to live their lives but this hasnt exactly changed my view of them as most of them were expected due to previous publicity. What did shock me was times where everything seemed fine for them yet they were actually going through things behind closed doors.I have understood that usually as the celebrities get further through their career they become more used to fame but sometimes

Elton John -goodbye yellow brick road

Image
notes from watching- has had a long career - he saw him self as an average person who lived in the countryside-was always vey quiet before fame-his frinds say hes adapted well but has changed-sometimes he felt his image was too goody goody who made it- R J cutler and David Furnish How involved was Elton -He gave permission to directors Critical reviews- Goodbye Yellow Brick Road  is such an epic, varied display of emotional depth and soul that it should be classified as some sort of operetta-Slant Conclusions for my EPQ- Hes already lived his career which shows it wasnt just made to boost his fame
